There's no fooling her today. April is hard at work, tending the flowers at the Welcome Center as she has been doing since 2003.

Sculpted by Mobile, Alabama artist Jo Hess and donated by several residents of Fairhope, April always has a beautiful potted plant to share with the city.

Watched over and cared for by the City Workers, April, who is a little on the quiet side, greets everyone at the Fairhope Welcome Center.

April's bare feet and overalls are ready for a spring day, and she's glad "her" month is finally here.

She was growing weary of people hanging their Mardi Gras beads around her neck.

April wants me to inquire what you are planting in your garden this spring.

Geraniums, herbs, potatoes, peas and tomatoes for me. What about you?
