Born in New York City, the author's grandmother-in-law, Mary, was a child during a world-wide pandemic.  Her father realized she needed a special gift to distract her from loneliness. Mary cherished this gift, but it was tragically destroyed in an accident. Mary mourned the loss her entire life, but 80 years later, when Mary relocated to Alabama, she experienced a Christmas miracle.

Inside every grandparent is still a child who loves the joy of Christmas.
