Firehouse Wedding

unspecified-12The “hottest” thing around seems to be a Firehouse Wedding, and The Old Smyrna Firehouse is the perfect location! Do you remember me telling you about my brother’s Firehouse (HERE) in Georgia? Well, this is Jessica and Brian, who were married at Robert’s house this past September. Dreamy + funky = fun wedded bliss.

Jessica and Brian found The Old Smyrna Firehouse through their wedding planner, Anna, at Sweet  Grass Weddings. She specializes in helping couples who want more than an appointment with a judge, but not as much as a full-blown hullabaloo wedding with fourteen bridesmaids, sparkly rhinestone tiaras, flowers flown in from Fiji, a full orchestra and fireworks that require a city permit (which actually sounds great to me. Don’t judge. It’s the whole princess complex.).

unspecified-9Robert has started working with party planners to host special events like this wedding or small corporate events, and since he loves dogs, they are always welcomed.

unspecified-8Precious!

unspecified-6The furniture gets moved out of the way to provide seating facing the gorgeous windows.

unspecified-3All of the sculptures and reclaimed pieces Robert has added to his house make for great photo backgrounds.

unspecified-2The large tables Robert built can be arranged to hold plenty of food, and the full kitchen is right behind this area.

unspecified-18Anna even gave the industrial sconces a soft touch for the wedding.

Robert just saved a stranded bride and groom this past weekend for a last minute change-of-plans when their wedding on St. Simons Island was ruined due to Hurricane Matthew! It wasn’t the worst thing destroyed, but can you imagine all the soaking wet brides the storm left behind?

unspecifiedIsn’t this a beautiful cake? I’ll be going back to the Firehouse in a few weeks and can’t wait to see all the new things that have been added.

What an awesome story, and how cool/smart of your brother to have his house be a special venue!

It naturally evolved that way with so many people asking if they could use it, Robert connected with a special events place. They have cooking classes there and lots of meetings. Robert works as a builder, so this is something totally different for him.

I love weddings and thanks for sharing this one. The adorable couple made a great decision to use the firehouse for their venue, it’s gorgeous! I remember the post about your brothers firehouse but I am going to use the link to enjoy it again and the new links, sounds like a fun place. Love that firehouse/home………….

It’s so fun to look at all the details in every single room. I especially love the penny bathroom floor! I’ll update in a few months after I visit him again.

Leslie Anne, I love this…so unique for a wedding!

Apparently there is a demand for a small-venue type space and brides today love “unique,” so this is perfect! This wedding looked like it seated around 40.

  4. Looks like one “hot” wedding. Sorry, I couldn’t resist!!
