Southern Valentine

Shell heartIt’s not that Southern love is necessarily any better than other regions . . .

Love y'all

we just have a different way of expressing it.

“Gimme’ some sugar” isn’t about the white granular substance you buy in a bag at Piggly Wiggly.

And of course, Rhett Butler had a way with words (swoon).

newMardi-tines DayAnd there are many years on the Gulf Coast (like this year) our Valentine’s wishes are crossed with Mardi Gras wishes.

Swoon! I love that line from GWTW 🙂

Yes, it takes some of the steam out of it, knowing that a woman really wrote the line, but the way Clark Gable delivers it, always gives me a chill down my spine!

In my NC house, I covered walls in a guest bath with framed antique Valentines. Your post made me nostalgic but I think I sold all of them. Happy Valentines Day!

What a pretty idea! I remember my grandmother having a box of old Valentines like this I used to sit and look through like they were a magazine. I truly detest the “new” flimsy, non-imaginative Valentines they have in stores now! That makes me a Valentine’s Day Grinch, I guess.

I agree I collect old valentines and I just love them. With all the technology today why
can’t they make beautiful ones like they used to.

I think you’re on to something, Judy! Certainly, some company somewhere makes beautiful Valentines!

I love all the Southern valentine, especially the one saying “You’re the butter in my grits”. 🙂
Hope you have a great Valentine’s Day.

Thanks. Those are actually shells I’ve found on our local beaches, and I took the photo on top of an old trunk I have.
