If you want a little of this, and a little of that, head up to Scott Antique Market in Atlanta sometime. I had a full day of shopping and still didn’t see it all. Scott’s Market also has a location in Columbus, Ohio and both locations make it the largest indoor monthly antique market in America.

This is April who posed for me with her adorable booth. She had a knack for unusual items. I bought some linen tea towels and beautiful hand embroidered pillowcases from her.

The show fills up two huge buildings packed to the rafters with everything vintage, old, antique and creaky. I met my friend Rachel and my brother and a cousin there. It was hard to talk, walk, look, shop and visit together, but it was fun.

The outsides of both buildings are also swimming with giant tents and truckloads full of interesting items, some of them quite large.

The first building I went to had the more expensive, upscale items. Sterling silver, crystal, paintings, fine furniture and jewelry. Fun to look at, but since I’m already swimming in finery (ha), I moved on to the next building.

I love old books since they make me look so smart when I put them in my house. These were all in perfect condition.

IMG_9559Lunch at the Greek food counter was delicious. There were several different options to choose from, but I love Greek food and don’t have any around Fairhope. One of those trade-offs for living in a small town with no crime and lots of flowers.
IIMG_9557 I think the silver items are my favorite and I even love to polish it.

And was surprised to see it still held all the metal type pieces! What a collection!

These old telephones were in the more relaxed second building. They were priced at $80 and up. Way up. Waaaaayyy up.

I’ve always wanted to go to Scott’s, so now I can check it off my list, and wouldn’t be surprised if I made my way back again some day. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the year in case you want to go. My recommendations?  Wear comfortable shoes and bring twice as much money as you think you’ll need!

  1. Hello, I am a local Fairhope resident.
I just want you to know how very much I enjoy you and all your local info! I am a junker from waaaaaaay back living in Fairhope as a newly wed fifty yrs ago. finally got back not to have to relocate again. Had to leave Fairhope twice before, job situations, both times. Had my first booth with a sweet little lady out towards the Grand, that is where I met that famous Red Headed author, Ms. Fanny. she purchased a bunch of wicker I just haulded from Ill. Then, I had my own little shop on Section St. loving every minute of it, and had to move to Atlanta, that is where my husbands job happened to be. Atlanta, back to Ill. and back to Fairhope, that job did not work out, so we moved to Texas!!!! Let’s see only took us nineteen yrs. but retired and back to Fairhope, for ever more! My own very expensive rental shop and a couple of spots in malls in Fairhope, and finally got into the Galleria in Daphne and Antiques at the loop! Thank goodness, had five storage spaces in Daphne, down to one, yipeeeee! So my Dear, that’s my story and I am sticking to it. Enjoy, enjoy, my reading your space, I feel like I know you, we surly have passed like two ships at sea!! Yes, I use to go to Scott’s as often as possible, that was way before I even became a Dealer, just for the love of the OLD!
Enough, please continue, I feel as if I have found a friend, we do have a couple of things in common, old stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thank you, sincerely, Arlene C.

    1. How wonderful to hear from you! Yes, I’m sure we’ve walked in the same steps a few times. I have a booth at the “New” Antiques at the Loop now, relocated to Florida Street in Mobile. I don’t spend as much time working on it as I did when I had a space here in Fairhope, but it’s such an addicting business to be in!
So glad you wrote, and thanks so much for reading!

  2. Leslie Anne,
Thanks for sharing your shopping trip to Scott’s at my Show and Share party. I have never been, but it’s on my bucket list, so one day I will be in town when it’s going on.

    Blessings,
    Linda
