What inspires so many successful businesses? It’s when someone follows their passion, and that’s exactly what I found when I stumbled across, “Oh So Coastal” in Orange Beach.
Owner Karen Sage began painting and designing coastal accessories and furniture years ago from her home in Fairhope, which led to friends wanting to own a piece, and their friends, and on and on and on . . .
Poof! Just like that (well, maybe a little more details and hard labor), and Oh So Coastal was born.
Karen and her husband Dave are still very much hands-on owners, as was evident by their paint spattered work clothes they were wearing when I met them.
Their handmade line of furnishings has expanded to included great brands of uniquely styled pieces ready to furnish a tiny corner of your cottage or an entire beach house.
Karen and Dave also have another shop that supposedly has a completely different “vibe” in Foley, so now I’m itching to get over there and take a look at that place as well. (It’s located at 6642 Hwy. 59).
This painted table features the invasive species, the Lionfish, which although dreaded for it’s ability to wipe out other species, has been found to be quite tasty, and local chefs have put it on their menus. Such a pretty fish to have heavy issues.
This chair just sang out to me and I’m looking for a spot where I can put it. Little beach cabanas . . . sweet!
For a slightly more formal, yet still coastal look, I loved this table with the rope chargers. Ahoy!
For those of you who live near, or may be visiting soon, be sure you stop by Oh So Coastal at 25741 Perdido Beach Blvd. (near Publix) or call at 251-981-0830. You can view their beautiful web site HERE and I’m sure they’d be glad to ship something right to your door.
Happy coastal decorating everyone!
What a beautiful store! I love all of the colors. Is there a guideline on just how close you have to live to the coast in order to be able to decorate in coastal themes?
Hey Little Bitty Pretty One! What a great looking shop! Love all of the color and coastal thingys! What a great place you live in. Aw, thank you so much for popping in to see me and you’re so sweet to leave such a nice comment! 😉 I would love to meet up with you too. I’m old, but we could get into a lot of trouble! 😉
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉
Fabulous store…now all I need is a beach house to go with it. The beach house is a dream of mine, so I am loving your posts from the beach. I think I would need to control myself, as I wouldn’t want my future beach home to be too “kitschy”. I want mine to look something like Ralph Lauren meets J. Crew meets Downton Abbey…now that I have that planned, all I need is the money ;).
All that sand on Downton Abbey’s rugs? But I do understand the Ralph Lauren vibe at the beach. He’s a favorite of mine! I love his beach-Americana look.
I’ll have to check this out. I am in lust……………
You’d love it. Oyster thing-a-ma-jigs everywhere!
Leslie Anne, this looks like the perfect one-stop beach furnishings shop! Love the rope chargers! Pam @ Everyday Living
Wouldn’t those chargers look great on one of your fabulous tables?
I “shore” do love this shop!
BAHAHAHAHAHA! Would you like a job ghost writing this blog sometime?
You clever girl.
This is my very favorite store Leslie Anne, they have such wonderful and unique things! I have bought several pieces of furniture from them, and some table tops things- The cabana chair is adorable! I haven’t been in for a while, I better go shopping!
I should have known you knew all about this store! Your house is so adorable and beachy, I can clearly see how you would love it. Let’s go shopping together soon!
