The Thursday before Thanksgiving is always Fairhope’s Annual Lighting of the Trees.
This year’s cool – but -not -cold weather brought out a record crowd.
The store windows were glowing and many businesses wisely
remained open for nighttime holiday shoppers.
Different community and school groups performed festive Christmas music.
Big – eyed children gazed into the illuminated toy shop window.
People flooded the local restaurants for a bite to eat.
This beautiful life-sized Santa created by local artist Jan Jones
was peering from the window of
local clothing shop, The Cat’s Meow.
He was making a list and checking it twice.
Then the countdown began . . .
And the lights went on all over the downtown area.
“Snow” flew through the air and all was merry and bright.
The downtown lights remain lit until after the Arts and Crafts Festival in March.
Come on down and take a look!
Lights, Cameras, Action, Fairhope is decked out in her party sparkles for the annual festivities. Let the holiday photo taking commence.

Fairhope is the closest to Bedford Falls of any place I know! Even without the snow, this is a winter wonderland. I’m giving thanks for your newsletter that has cheered, informed, and entertained me all year!
Love this tree lighting event
You really captured the moment…the sites and sounds. I felt as if I were there.
The shops and restaurants have such a storybook feel. That was a great outing,
Deb
This looks like so much fun, wish I could have been there!
Happy Thanksgiving Hope……….
Emily
It looks beautiful. It looked like it was freezing in the pictures my cousins posted on Facebook
It wasn’t that cold. We just waited so long for it to dip under 70° that we all pulled out our big fluffy sweaters and hats just to look cute and wintery!
