Saturday Morning with Friends at First United Methodist Church, Pensacola with Leslie Anne Tarabella

One of my favorite groups of Southern ladies have invited me to speak at their annual, Saturday Morning with Friends silent auction and breakfast at the First United Methodist Church in Pensacola, Florida. I am so excited, I just can’t wait!

Organized in 1821, FUMC of Pensacola is the oldest protestant church in Pensacola.

Some of you will remember I was their speaker a few years ago, and it was one of the most enjoyable, well organized events I’ve ever seen. This team of women mean business when it comes to raising funds for good causes and have a ball while they do it. They are also world-class Southern cooks and serve the best grits I’ve ever had — no kidding! (Click Here for facebook and ticket info).

From 2017.

The breakfast previously had a red/Valentine’s Day theme, but since it’s scheduled for March this year, we’re all going green with a special “Seeing Green Auction.” Oh, how I love a good theme.

And speaking of themes, since St. Patrick’s Day reminds us of the luck of the Irish, I’ll be speaking on, “Happiness is not just Luck!”

What do you think about that? Have you ever been accused of being lucky, when in reality, you worked yourself to the bone to get to a place of happiness? Have you ever had God bring you to a peaceful place of joy only to have other people say, “you lucky dog!” (how dare they! hahaha!).

Seriously, share your thoughts in the comment section so I can get some feedback from you. If you are a personal friend, you know how shy I am and I may not have much to say unless you help me. — Hold on . . . must-get- a- Band-aid for my knee where I just fell out of my chair laughing!

2017 crowd resting from all the shopping, eating and talking!

Tickets are only $15 and include breakfast, shopping and laughter. You also get to see my green dress for free. The money raised benefits the Family Food Box Ministry that serves homebound folks in the Pensacola community. Some recipients are older, some have young children and others just need temporary help with good nutrition and love.

Also benefiting from this event will be the Methodist Youth Fellowship Outreach of the church. Adding to their general fund for on-campus activities, we will also raise funds for Scholarships for teens to attend a once-in-a-lifetime experience of Hiking a portion of the Appalaichain Trail. This program deepens their relationship with God and provides strong Christian mentors.

I’ve been on many, many church trips and can tell you how valuable they are, especially these days when teens are so bombarded with stressful social media and hurtful people. But if I get my choice of going with them on a hike, or raising money to send them . . . give me a green dress, and I’ll be a “sender!” I’ll even throw in prayer on top of it. (forgive me, and bless those who work with teenagers).

Saturday, March 7, 2020 is the date, and the auction starts at 8:30am with the breakfast following at 9:30am and the program at 10:30am.

Get your ticket by MARCH 1st!!! Details are on their facebook page.

We’ll have lots of laughs, and I’m sure you’ll meet nice new friends. I can’t wait to see you in Pensacola! (and for my Fairhope friends, it’s barely an hour away!)

Don’t forget to leave me a comment about your thoughts on happiness and luck!

Very informative post! I had no idea this was such a huge event. Chalk it up to your humility not wanting to brag about being their keynote!

    • I thought I told you many times how awesome I am! hahaha! Actually, the truth is, the big crowd is due to the group’s hard work and delicious breakfast. Amazing shopping doesn’t hurt either. Good grits and bacon will bring more people out on a Saturday morning than I ever will! Come over and join the fun! (and no, you don’t need to wear green – I know what you are thinking!).

  • I wish I could be there to see you in your green dress! I don’t even know anyone near Pensacola to share the news with. It sounds like such a great opportunity to raise money for a fabulous cause. You will be printing at least some of the best parts of your talk here, won’t you?

I don’t give much credit to luck. Providence, yes. Hard work, yes.

I hope you can talk about happiness and joy being two entirely different things. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve already written about that in your years of writing!

    • Oh, how I’d love to meet you! You absolutely must find Pensacola friends someday so you can “vacation” at their house! And yes, I agree so much about happiness and joy being different and actually coming from two different places. Thanks for the encouragement, and maybe sometime I’ll be speaking or doing a book signing closer to you and we can meet.

  • No luck except in football

  • Julia Crow says:

    Thank you, precious Leslie Anne!
I look forward to seeing you in March!
