It’s that time of year . . .
There’s nothing quite as beautiful and festive as our parades here in Fairhope. We may be a small town, but we’ve got the parading thing down to a beautiful art.
Many local parents will tell you that when they’ve taken their tiny tots to Walt Disney World and have shown them the “BIG PROFESSIONAL” parade, the children left crying because: A) They didn’t throw candy or beads at the parade and B) There were no big shiny pick-up trucks to look at.
So here’s the big news: Friday night is Fairhope’s Magical Christmas Parade and I’ll be helping the wonderful Mark Swally broadcast live from the balcony of Page and Palette! I know! How fun is that going to be?When Mark asked if I could be there, I cut him off and said, “YES, YES!, YES!” “Um . . . do you want to think about it a while?” he said. Come on now, talking about sparkly majorettes, my favorite high school band and how much I love Fairhope? I do it all the time anyway!
If I can’t twirl a baton, chatting it up with Mark will be the next best thing! Mark is one of the regular hosts at our local AM 1220 station, and his regular sidekick, Lori Dubose, the station manager and all-around voice of Fairhope, is going to be down on the streets, joining in the parade (OH! I hope she’s twirling!).
Mark and I have so much fun together and it’s going to be a blast. Their new system at WABF 1220 AM is now online, so even if you’re in Kalamazoo, London or Wewahitchka, you’ll be able to listen LIVE by going HERE and at the top of the page, click on “Listen Live.”
The parade begins at 7pm on December 2, so I hope you can tune in — that is, if you aren’t able to be there yourself! If you do happen to make it downtown, come by the balcony and give us a wave!
I’ll see you on the radio!
[…] right), co-announcing the Christmas Parade for WABF with my friend, Mark Swally. You may remember HERE we did this last year from the balcony of Page and Palette, but this year, our location has changed […]
I am going to check out that radio broadcast. That would be real fun to experience a parade by radio/computer. You will be great.
Thanks — I’m home now. It was so super fun! Hope the web site worked for you!
How much total fun! Behave yourself, you’ll be live!
Oh come on now, I think I’m supposed to be giving honest critiques on everyone below, right? “Hey you! No pushing in Fairhope!”
How exciting! And what a beautiful parade!!!
The parade gets more gorgeous every year! Wish you could be here.
What an honor! But a face like yours belongs on television! Have a blast!
I don’t know, with high definition TV’s these days, I’ll stick with radio!
What fun! Love that picture of your son. Almost didn’t recognize him without the wonderful red hair. I am so hoping mine has shaved today. I HATE “No Shave November.”
He looks totally different now with the long hair and beard. He’s told me he’ll cut it soon, but his idea of soon and mine may be different!
