2ea59f93b5489bf5fc3b81cbfb553b6cI love a cozy nook as much as I love a good book.

I’ve had some wonderful books come across my desk over the past few weeks and even though I’ve had a busy time getting kids back in school, it’s been hard to put the books down.

Each story is so interesting, I can’t wait to take time to really settle down and give them my full attention.

The_Language_of_Silence__S_SFirst up, is “The Language of Silence” by Mississippi native and USA best selling author, Peggy Webb. If you want a story about a woman who starts as meek and ends as strong, this is the book for you. You can cheer for this character as she struggles to free herself from an abusive relationship by of all things . . . running away to the circus. Peggy will be in Fairhope signing books at a luncheon on September 19th. (All these events and author appearances are through our fabulous Page and Palette Bookstore – 251-928-5295).

Thrones-and-Bones-Frostborn-smallNext in the stack, is the fun and daring story, “Thrones and Bones” by Lou Anders. Although this book is aimed at children in middle grades – I guess that means around 4th – 7th – it looks like a fun, quick read for me! Not my usual Nancy Drew fare, it has the popular twist of being full of giants, dragons, trolls and minions. Just what kids today love. Lou will be at Page and Palette meeting his fans, young and old next Wednesday, September 10th at 4pm. Make sure you take your little dragon lover to meet him. one-more-chance

The last book in the pile is interesting to me, because the author is a Fairhope resident. Abbi Glines and I had children in the same second grade class, and someone mentioned Abbi liked to write . . . as if it were a “little hobby” of hers. Well, lo and behold, Abbi does like to write and has produced book after book of young adult romance style books, although her audience is growing to include readers from other genres. Abbi is now a #1 New York Times Bestselling Author!

I’m telling you, Fairhope produces some creative people! “One More Chance” is part of the Rosemary Beach series Abbi has created. Her fans adore her and Abbi will be appearing at 6pm on Thursday, September 18th at The Venue to speak and sign books. There will be a photo booth available, and as always, Page and Palette will fill the evening with surprises.

Don’t forget that Christmas is coming faster than you know, and these books would all make great gifts for the book lovers on your list!
