Get to know Alabama author Leslie Anne Tarabella

For over a decade, Leslie Anne Tarabella’s weekly newspaper column covered the unique character of the changing South. Attempting to raise her children with old-fashioned manners while living in a frantic modern world, Leslie Anne’s stories struck a chord with audiences far beyond her home state of Alabama.

Her books, The Majorettes are Back in Town, Exploding Hushpuppies, Bringing Christmas Home, and We Don’t Push in Fairhope, have brought laughter and tears to readers who love a good story about good food, loyal dogs and crazy relatives.

Storytelling has always been second nature to Leslie Anne Tarabella. “Both sides of my family were natural storytellers,” she recalls. “We’d sit around swapping the funniest stories—no need for much TV; we were our own entertainment.”

Born in Florala, Alabama, and raised along the Gulf Coast, Leslie Anne has spent the last 25 years enjoying the charm of Fairhope, Alabama. “Around here, 25 years still makes me a newcomer,” she says.

Recognized for her unique ability to blend wit with thoughtful insight, she was honored by the Alabama Press Association with a humor award for her ten-year weekly newspaper column. Her latest book, We Don’t Push in Fairhope, debuted as an Amazon bestseller and quickly became a favorite among fans of Southern humor.

Married to Bob for 31 years, Leslie Anne often finds inspiration in their lively dynamic. “Being married to a man from New Jersey, and raised by a mother from New York City, definitely gives me plenty to think about,” she jokes. “I mean, who puts seerup on pancakes?”

Spending time with her two grown sons, caring for her mother, traveling with Bob and gardening are things Leslie Anne likes to do when not writing. She especially loves meeting readers at book events and through emails, so drop her a note sometime.
