Let me hug your neck!

It’s been a whole week since the release of my new book, We Don’t Push in Fairhope, and I want to thank each one of you who was able to attend the launch party. What a fun night! My grandmother would say, “Come here and let me hug your neck!” If the long signing line at the night’s end kept me from hugging your neck, consider your necks virtually hugged, or I’ll owe you one the next time I see you!

And if you ordered the book to be shipped to your mountaintop home in India or by the sea in Hawaii, I doubly thank you!

The big news you may have heard, three or four or twenty-five times, was that the day after the party, We Don’t Push in Fairhope was ranked by Amazon #1 in Travel Guides and also grouped in the top 50 Regional Humor books. Do you see that banner that says, “#1 New Release?” It’s just as exciting as a sash that says, “Miss America.”

The Audio version of the book will be available any day now and I’ll fill you in on a good story about that.

Writing a book, painting a canvas, or performing a dance all need an audience. I feel blessed that God has given me a built-in audience of good friends and readers, and I am so grateful for each of you. You wouldn’t believe how many author events I attend that are filled with negative, gross books. It’s the “in thing” to be angry if you haven’t noticed. I’ve always thought a gift should be used for good — to entertain, uplift, and help, and I appreciate your support.

AND NOW . . . I have one last favor to ask (in addition to telling all your friends about the book) . . . I’d appreciate you leaving a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Like Amos Ray Vanderhoot, who needed all the votes possible to win the coveted title of President of the Antique Cookie Jar Club, these sites use book reviews like votes for allowing viewers to see your book.

I know it takes a few minutes, but thank you in advance for the review. It certainly deserves another Southern neck hug.
