Well, what do you know . . . I finally have a book signing!

It isn’t just me. Actually, it’s barely me, but nonetheless, this Thursday, December 8th, I’ll be joining the other eight Fairhope Writer’s Group members at 6pm in Page and Palette Bookstore to sign copies of the best, funniest, most entertaining guide book to Fairhope you’ll ever read — The Official Fairhope Guidebook, A Walking Tour.

The Fairhope Writer’s Group has been together for many years and started the enormous task of writing this guidebook over a year ago. They worked themselves to the bone and when it was almost finished, decided to ask me to join them.

Oh joy! I get to take credit for all of this work, and only joined the group towards the end. Actually, they knew I had experience with writing the reviews for local restaurants, and thought those stories would be a good fit with the book. Of course, I was honored, and jumped right in. I’ve been working with the talented bunch since last summer, and it has been so much fun.

The book is intended to inform and entertain both visitors to Fairhope as well as local folks. Each and every store, business, restaurant, park and place of interest has been reviewed, sometimes with a straight face, other times with tongue in cheek (and still others, while rolling on the floor laughing).  There’s not one single page that won’t bring you joy or make you say, “I didn’t know that was there!”

Members of the group besides myself are: Ron Meszaros, Jule Moon (who doesn’t mind if we tell you she’s 97, and awesome, I may add), Phyllis Pittman, Robert Glennon, Roseanne Gulisano, Joe Worley, Ken James and Vicki Armitage.

The perfect gift, available at the low, low price of $11.50 — you’ll want to buy one for everyone you know.

The worst thing in the world for a writer is to have a book signing and have no one show up. It’s a reoccurring nightmare for me. So, with that bit of psycho- insecurity revealed about myself, I truly hope to see each and every one of you at Page and Palette this Thursday night at 6pm (there will be wine specials at the bar!). I’ll autograph your book, and give you a big hug!

If you can’t make it out Thursday night, the book will still be available at Page and Palette throughout the year. Follow the book on our Facebook page HERE. Page and Palette is always happy to ship, so visit their web site HERE for their contact info.

Hahahaha! If only. These other writers have taught me a thing or two about hard work! I’m the princess on the cushion compared to everything they put into it!

  7. […] The Fairhope Writer’s Group met to celebrate our darling friend Jule Moon on the occasion of her 99th birthday. Jule (pronounced Julie, but far too cool to spell it the expected way), is the anchor of our group of writers and has a lifetime of stories to tell. Born in Atlanta and raised in Mobile, Jule was educated at Murphy High School and The University of Texas, then embarked on a spirited  career that spanned the fields of medicine, counseling, geology, real estate, antiques and writing.
