|Alabama – made grocery products . . . except I think Georgia may have something to say
about the packs of Coca-Cola!
|Red Diamond Coffee and Tea is a favorite throughout the South.|
And stand back – my all time favorite – Golden Flake Potato Chips. My dream is to visit the plant in Birmingham and load my car up with crunchy, salty chips. I would rather have one bag of Golden Flakes than twenty double fudge chocolate cakes!
And this is a new favorite of mine, Stone Hollow Creamery’s Goat Cheese, made in Harpersville, Alabama. Alexandra Stone is the daughter in the family farm business and a student at Samford University. The beautiful goatherd handles all of the product design and public relations for the family’s artisan creamery and farm. I took home several of the state goodies, including a box of Whistle Stop Cafe Fried Green Tomato Batter Mix, which I’ll tell you more about another time. For now, here’s what I made with the chèvre from Stone Hollow:
Alabama Chèvre Pecan Spread
from: Fairhope Supply Co
Mix two 3oz packages of Stone Hollow Creamery Goat Cheese with half that amount of cream cheese. Stir in approximately 1/2c red seedless grapes which have been finely chopped. In a pan, melt 1/2 stick butter. Stir in 1/2c brown sugar. When dissolved, stir in 1c chopped pecans. Stir to coat. When cool, stir pecans into cheese mixture and refrigerate.
Serve with crackers or toast points. I used it to make goat cheese-pecan tea sandwiches.
|I cannot begin to tell you how good this was!|
